Number one, it depends if you want to work by yourself or plan on having some employees.
If you want to work by yourself, there seems to be a high demand for someone willing to do small jobs. When I say "small", I mean something one operator can do in a day or two.
A friend of mine bought a Bobcat 753 with a backhoe attachment, front loader, and a few other options. He bought it used 5-6 years ago. It is a truly amazing all-around machine and he pulls it on a trailer with a 3/4 ton pickup truck. It is a very well built, rugged, and efficient machine - but - cost a lot also.
So, that's one idea, of I'm sure, many.
