Over 20 years ago when i first starting working a 'road job' as an engineer for CSX, the rail yard in Columbus Ohio was like going into a turkey farm. I never seen so many pheasants in all my life. I reckon they were feeding on all the grain that went through there. I went to running a yard engine down here in KY. for several years and when I went back to running trains into Columbus.........the birds were gone.......just extinct. Weird. There is still oodles of grain trains through there but no birds. Never were any down here south of the Mason Dixon.
