We have put air on trucks doing similar things. Those old AC compressors work good for that and it sure is handy to have.

I would have to agree though that using a hot water tank for storage is risky. When they are new they may work but as they age they get thin and you don�t know when or where they are going to split.
I personally know of a man that was killed when a tank split. He was filling a small portable tank that had rusted thin. He was bent over it and when it split it hit him square in the face and chest then picked him up off the ground and sent him into rafters of his garage killing him instantly. The tank only had 40 to 50 lbs of pressure in it at the time it let go. I could just imagine the force that 150 would have.

I like your idea but would seriously consider a better tank. Just don�t want to read about you in the papers.
