You may have a problem with your oil pick-up screen (partly clogged?), if oil pressure is only dropping as oil level falls slightly.
Depending on condition, and of course I have no idea, but you might just find that the oil control rings are gummed up and need freeing off.
Do a compression test first to ascertain degree of problem. I think I would prefer not to disturb the engine too much if all is actually quite good already, as new compression rings in old bores can be a disaster!
Also are you running a detergent or non-detergent oil? Could make all the difference. Or a synthetic would almost certainly reduce oil consumption (but probably not much on the cost).
