I carried splitting stands with me when I was a field mechanic for Deere - but rarely used them. You can stick a good foor jack under the front half of the tractor and hammer some wood shims on both sides of the front axle pivot - just as Bob mentioned in his post. So,the front half with engine is the part you wheel way when splitting. The rear half can be held up by bottle jacks and some wood blocks for insurance. One jack in front, and one in back under the drawbar. When you're putting it back together, and if you're by yourself, put two come-alongs on the two halfs - one on each side. Pull them back together that way - but do not force anything. When shafts come in contact with the clutch disks - rock things back and forth, rotate the engine, rock the PTO shaft, etc. until with slight tension from the come-alongs - it almost falls together. If you have a SynchroRange style PTO clutch - put some wood shims to hold the pressure-plate fingers in to the PTO clutch disk will stay in place.
