you only want to put freon in on the low side. If you put it in on the high side your new nickname could be lefty. The easiest way I have found if it is a cycling clutch system, is at about 70 degree ambient temp the clutch will not cycle at idle when it is full. You can also look at the low side pressure. For r12 it is about 30-35 depending on ambient temp and r134a will be slightly lower. Just make sure you dont try to put freon in the high side with the engine running.
