Thats the most common place for those to crack from lack of antifreeze.
There is not a lot of pressure there so it does not need wellded. Wire brush the whole area to bare cast so you can see the extant of the crack. You probably want to drill a small hole at the end of the crack to keep it from running any further and the using an angle grinder carefully and gently v out the length of the crack. clean the area completely and apply JB Weld. You can even press a coarse sandpaper into the weld to simulate the casting grain, paint your favorite color and your done.
