Roger, I have a MF65 as well (for the past 25 years). Mine had the same problem and it is the main lift cylinder that has a cast iron piston and cast rings which are worn out and the hydraulic oil is leaking past when the pump is not running. I fixed mine by removing the cylinder and piston and honing out the cylinder to true it up as you would a engine cylinder. The difference here being the cylinder is a dead end cylinder, think of it as a can, as the cylinder has a bottom to it. next, we made a new piston to fit the new size of the cylinder and used modern O ring and backing ring for hydraulic use instead of the cast iron rings. The piston is fairly simple to make. Any good maching shop could do this for you. I did mine with a friend who had a hand hone and a lathe. It has worked flawlessly for twenty years. My three point equipment does not drop.
