52 was last year of the 8N and should have the side distributor.Late 8Ns had slightly different gearing and are favored slightly over older ones.Only way to know actual year for sure is the serial no(if original engine block)stamped(not cast)on a flat on mid left side of engine.For 1952 number should be above 8N 442035.
