I also have a 1954 Roto-ette. They also came with an optional 3ed model engine . Mine has the Briggs model 9 (3hp) on it. It has a special adapter to mount the larger engine to the smaller bolt pattern of the standard 1.5hp engines. They seem to be few and far between. I have seen only 1 other like it. Somewhere around here, I have sales paperwork showing photos of the model. The only other difference that I could find was that the shafts that hold the tines are 1/16" larger. The same man that designed and built the Roto-ette, went on to build the Troy Built. John in Pa.
