Here in the snowbelt, it's been my experience that the loss-of-signal problem doesn't come from snow on the dish but snow on the LNB. I've seen freezing rain or wet snow slightly covering the front of the LNB causing the signal to go out. I made a small plastic cover to keep weather off the front cover and solved that problem. However, signal loss due to heavy rain or snow can't be fixed except to wait for the storm to pass.
