And 10 hp would be a minimum for a chisel, I
ran a 10 shank with my 85 hp tractor 2 years,
felt sorry for the tractor, could not pull it fast or
deep enough to really do a chisel plow job.
Should go 8-11 inches deep with a chisel
plow, and moving a little faster helps it shatter
the soil.

However, if you have clear dirt, a 3pt 6-8 shank
chisel plow that doesn't handle crop trash is
sold for the price of scrap steel these days.....
Or a 10 shank can have a few shanks
removed if you don't need to cover 100 acres
in 2 days.....
