We use an implement like that to make dredge cuts across fields to drain standing water. If done right, they will cut a trench approximately 1 ft deep, and feathered on the edges so that they can be crossed by tractors, planters, sprayers, combines etc. without jarring ones eye teeth loose. Another advantage to this type of ditcher is that it can be operated at around 12 mph. This is a God send on rented ground where the owner is not going to invest in tiled drainage.
