The boxes are the same, just set up different for pesticide, front of wheel to drop in furrow and herbiside that mounts on the back side of the wheel and drives from the oposite side, the axle in the press wheel has to be live, if it is a plain 494 the axle is not live and uses drive gears that bolt to the press wheel with a jackshaft. the pesticide(insecticide) for the 494 is different but the newer units can be modified to fit. the 494 and early 494A had small boxes for both with the later 494A having a larger box and those are the same as all the 1200 series planters.
