I will only comment on what I know about bronze vs iron guides.Bronze is for a race motor but does it make it faster; not at all.Does it wear faster;yes.Also guide Id and od has to be real concentric to each other to get a good valve job.When its not youll remove way more seat material than ncessary cutting[grinding] the new seat resulting in sunken vavles.Manley makes ones I cant use.Rowe and Kibblewhite make concentric ones.I have a lathe and reasonable machining skills but would not attempt to make valve guides myself.[They wear out from the side thrusting effect of the rocker arm action plus the linear movement.]good luck
