Dave, I agree with some of the others. I have been doing body work and painting for about12 years now. I have found that people that realize the costs associated with painting are willing payers. But people that have no clue look at you like your crazy when you tell them just what it will cost for paint, primers, reducers, and so forth. Then you still have to add your labor costs to all of that. I have changed the scope of work that I will do now. I only paint tractors now, and unlike others, I try to stick to people I know, and make them buy everything, and pay me a small labor charge. Charging $20 per hour for any metal work and $10 an hour for body work and painting seems to please everyone involved. Just my thoughts about it.
