Rick has the right idea. I grind all my own sheep feed for my finishing lambs and I never use a screen. This way a few kernels will pass through whole. The other trick is to use a large tractor. I like a JD 4430, but I also use an IH 806 with great results. With that large of tractor you can run a mill while running the tractor a little faster than idle. At that slow speed when a hammer hits a kernel it will crack it and not pulverize it.
