Yep, the guys talking about welding it in are right. That will keep it in place. If you do your own wrenching, which you seem to do, and you want to be able to replace the pump again sometime without having to buy a new pickup tube, then just spot weld it in.
One thing though, is put the ground of the welder on the pickup tube. Dont put the ground on the pump or it could ark through the gears and ruin the pump before you even put it in the engine.
