Fuels have a limited shelf life. Additives can make them last a little longer, but out beyond a year and a half , you could begin to have some problems. Fuels are made to be used relatively quickly. Heck even the US Govt, whom we have done testing work for, has learned that it is far better to store crude and make the fuel from that when you need it. Many of the diesel reserves were a mess, full of gums and bacterial growths.
