This is very common. Gas that has been contaminated (yes, that's the right word) with ethyl alcohol gives worse gas mileage than straight gas. In my case, if I buy gas with 10% alcohol in it, my mileage goes down by 10%. Makes sense as alcohol cools the combustion process and engines are really "heat engines". People in my state complain about it all the time but legislators like to get that "farm vote" so everyone gets to pay 10% more for their already too expensive gas.
