Visually inspect the wiring to the front and rear turn signals. It's pretty exposed in the back, and may have suffered road debris damage. Also, it can chafe in the frame rail area, and any trailer connector harness that may have been added is a likely trouble source.

In rare instances, the filament supports in the bulb may be damaged, allowing internal connections to short. I have seen this in bulbs that survived some crash impact damage.
