Don't be too discouraged. Most all professional jobs require some degree of experience. The question is, where does one get it. I know you might not want to hear it, but the military always needs meterologists. Pull a tour and if you don't like it, you will have your experience to put toward another job. Any decent sized airport with a tower will need meterologists. Today, I noticed a civilian meterologist job advertized at the air base where I work. I believe it was rated at a GS-12 which translates into about 70,000 per year. It might take one a number of years to get to this level, but most all of us start at the bottom in our careers.
