Interesting,What brand synthetic oil were you using ? Unless it was Mobil 1 or Amsoil,it may have been labeled synthetic, but really was mineral oil which when processed in a certain way can be labeled as synthetic. I have used mobil 1 for 25 years plus years with nothing but great results in new or as much as 150,000 mile engines changed to Mobil 1. The deal about not using synthetic oil in a motorcycle wet clutch causing slippage reminds me of an experience I had. I was using an old Yamaha 2 cycle 400 street bike for a field checker. It was geared much too high for starting out in soft dirt fields,so I abused the clutch a lot with slow high rpm starts. With this kind of treatment, the clutch soon became sticky and would not release mmaking shifting difficult. The clutch and transmission used motor oil. I replaced the mineral oil in the transmission with Mobil 1 synthetic oil, which cured the sticky clutch. I never noticed any full power clutch slippage,so atleast in this case the Mobil 1 synthetic was great for the wet clutch. Type Mobil 1 into a search engine and snoop around the site, there is much good information about synthetic lubricants on the site. They also have a true/false page that clears up a lot of silly false stories about using synthetic oil.
