I just traded my 97 Dodge 1500 for a Ford 350 Turbo Diesal. The Dodge had 55,000 trouble free miles but the 99 Ford only had 9900 miles on it. I my observation in this area is that if you want your septic tank pumped, phone repaired, or electric line built you won't see any Dodge or GM trucks working on them. The utitlities are the cheapest outfits in the USA and they must know something about fleet costs.
