I have driven trucks with all 4 brands of motors ,it comes down to maintance if this pete has over 600,000 check the bottom end if this has not been done will be due soon. A 3406 will run a long time as long as you don't turn it up sky hi and run it flat out all day ,and use the jake break as little as possiable this knocks many miles off the engine like.
