Good idea for the wife to have a phone! A local guy up here in the frozen north hit the ditch with his pickup, and then ran out of gas. He wasn't carrying his cellphone because it had been shut off for non-payment. (My understanding is that even with the phone service shut off, head COULD have called 911!) After a couple of days and 2 nights in the stalled pickup at temps that got as low as near -30, his parents found him (he's pushing 40 years old, himself)! A week or 10 days in the hospital (no insurance) and he's out. Feet are still BLACK. May still face partial foot amputation, and loss of some toes. All that pain and money, for the lack of a way to call for help!
