I would look at the task manager, ctrl-alt-del, hit hit 't' for task manager. Also check that the system restore( i believe it is called) is off. This is a hogg.

I would also go into control panel, administrative, then check the services that are set to start and run automatically. Disable all the remote access type services and messenger since they allow people to easly get at your computer. A harware firewall will help keep people from seeing your comp. from the web.
