You can knurl soft metals like brass, bronze and
aluminum with two course metal files. Lay one file on
the bench, set the bushing sideways (so it can roll
down the file) on the end of the file nearest you. Now
stack the other file on top, lean hard on the top file and
roll the bushing to the other end of the bottom file. You
can do this a couple times and it will raise a bunch of
little teeth across the bushing. You can get it to where
you have to press it in the hole this way.
