Amen! I just had both fronts changed on my '44 2N Ford. Who knows how long they'd been on there the last time...there were 19 patches on one tube and 16 on the other. tires were completely rotten, to the point there were cracks where the tubes were showing through for 3-4"! The rims looked pristine from the outside, but inside was over a 1/2" of crud. I bought new tubes and tires, so my tire guy said he'd mount them for free if I carried them in. Well, he brushed, chipped and ground on them rims for well over an hour. Finally I took them home and used an air chisel to get the big stuff, then a wire brush and grinder. I worked on them another hour, then blasted and painted them. Total between both of us was well over 3 hours. Sometimes it ain't as easy as it looks. I've since done another set of fronts I had spare. Did those myself at home, and I must have spent 6 hours on those two.
