For the same shaft speed a 12 volt generator will have windings with half the wire cross section and twice as many turns as a 6 volt generator. However, if you turn the shaft of a 6 volt generator twice as fast while holding 6 volts on the field it will put out double the voltage. If you self excite it then you won't have to double the speed to get double the voltage though the fields will run hotter and the speed increase will depend on field core saturation. When you cut the wire size in half, you also cut the current rating. A 6 volt generator doing 12 volts still has the same current rating it had at 6 volts. To get good results from a 6 volt generator on 12 volts you need a smaller pulley on the generator and a 12 volt regulator. I don't know about Case specifics. Gerald J.
