Helped a friend build and set up a shop two years ago. Now bear in mind this is a open Arizona shop but the main floor is 30" X 50". We put a 5" square tube in as the mid-center support and made up a jib crane that can swing 270 degrees.We took a 4"x 6"X 1/2" piece of plate and made a workbench that wraps around the tube and diagonal braces. This mounts the vise, bench grinder and drill press. The post has air, water and elect on it also.
