Hjp, I do spray welding, and have for almost 30 years and it is a great process. However for the cracks that he describes the old fashened gas weld is a much better process, oxy/acetylene cast iron weld done with preheat in an oven . Needs about 900 degrees preheat,then easy off the heat, weld some , reheat to keep the 900 deg weld more and heat many times untill done. Post heat to 1200 to 1500 deg and maintain for at least 1/2 hour to normalize.Wrap in asbestos blanket and allow to cool slowly, should take about 12 hrs to cool. george
