I believe the 163 was what Continental called their "industrial" version of the 162. I saw a spec sheet once and the only difference between the 162 and the 163 was some small difference in some bushing or bearing size. Why the difference in displacement (1 cubic inch) I never did figure out unless Continental just used that to distinguish between the two. I have only seen 162's in ag applications (along with 140 and 124 versions of the same block). There was an industrial version of the 140 too, might have been a 138 or something I think.
