Hmmm, I have a similar delimma. I cann't find any numbers (yet) on my engine. I'm only half done cleaning it. The model number on the back of the lawn tractor is 917.249400. All I know at the moment is this engine is a Tecumseh 12HP OHV and the mower is a Sears Craftsman 38" 5-speed mower...probably from the 1980's. Can anyone help me on this?
