I think it's normal to "get yer back up" when someone suggests that you're doing something stupid. I've been around the block a few times and I want to think I'm a marginally intelligent, prudent individual.
However, these posts can't always cover the whole story and I will listen to any risk assessment anybody wants to put on the table. The good thing about this country and these forums is that we can see a lot of comments - both pro and con - and ulitmately make our own decisions on the reasonableness of the feedback.
As a parent, I've been pretty outspoken myself to this particular 26 year old who isn't exactly risk adverse. The good news is that over the past year, AFTER last year's bucket ride, he commented how that had really been a potentially dangerous thing to do, and it scared him a little thinking about what might have happened. It's his show, not mine, and he made it a point to get the hayrack this year, and I am proud of him!

We should never blindly reject a comment from someone who is trying to save a life.
