Was Deere not building the 4440 in 1981? If so then it is a fair comparison. I think the idea was to compare what was sold new at the time. I was thinking they started that series in '76 or so and built them at least thru '83 or so. I'm not trying to bash Deere, we have a 4255 at home right now and it's a fine tractor.
