My uncle Carl tried that about 40 years ago. Didn't work well because at the low engine speeds of a tractor the car engine didn't turn fast enough to be properly cooled. Probably needed the belt ratios to the water pump changed to turn it and the fan a lot faster. He tried to use the original tractor radiator as I recall. He had a lot of trouble with the engine overheating and I don't think ever accomplished a lot of work with it. It would work better if the engine had a gear box between it and the tractor transmission so the car engine could turn up 3200 or 4000 RPM like it would at high speed on the highway to get its horsepower. The tractor engines of the M era were made to run slowly and produce a lot of torque at low speed, the car engine wasn't made to run slowly, but to run fast... A relatively recent 6 cylinder Ford pickup engine would be a better choice than most V-8 since its torque peaks at about 1500 RPM, not far from the working speed of the M's original engine. Gerald
