Thats nothing. We did that to a Detriot 6-71. We wrapped it up over 4,000 rpm. It ran for about 5 minutes before overheating and slowing down and quitting. The thermostat never opened so we fixed that and started it up again. Wrapped it up to 4,000 rpm again. It ran for a few minutes before it started smoking from everywhere on the engine and quit. We cooled it off with a garden hose and started it again. Keep in mind we had to use gobs of either to start it each time. Same thing happened as last time except some pieces of metal came out of the exhaust. Started it again and this time it threw a rod completely out of the engine. We were using a cage around the engine too so nobody would get hurt. We tried to start it again but it was getting dark. We never siezed it I am sure we could have had it running again if we had time. On close inspection, 2 of the liners were cracked and the supercharger was making some god awful noises.
