They rate trailers with both axles so that would be rated for 7,000 lbs (3,500 lbs per axle)total including the weight of the trailer itself. So if the trailer weighs 1,500 lbs you can carry 5,500 lbs and not be over loaded "Gross Trailer Weight" wise. You need to go by the GWR of the trailer to be sure and it should be on the "Data Plate" on the frame. Mark H.
