Now I don"t know whether he knows what he has got. I was thinking it was an early charge system where the field current is controlled from the load switch and would have a feed as soon as the battery voltage was supplied through the switch, with extra exitation current from a reduced resistance controlled as lights switch was operated, ie. no regulator control box. Trouble is these "sounds like" explanations are a bit short on detail! Perhaps we will find out a bit later, so we all know what was wrong and how it was fixed, ready for the next time Regards, RAB
