I see tractors all the time with both the rain caps as well as your standard coffee can, soup can, or whatever. The one thing I've never seen is a true "rain trap" on a machine. They still list them in the CAT One Safe Source book, and I've seen them listed as options on some older equipment. All it is is a rounded shape deal that has a wide open top, and then inside it has a drip plate that actually covers the hole into the engine and funnels any water that hits it out through a drain hole. It looks like a pretty good setup, no moving parts to "clank and chatter" but how it works in practice is another matter. Any of you ever used one???
