I don't know if their still available, or where you'd get one but Dad put a trick on the tank at our old house that automatically did basically what Rustyfarmall was talking about doing. I believe it was simply called a vacuum breaker. When the water got down to a certain level and started to draw a vacuum the valve opened up and let air back into the tank. That way when the pump kicked back on and filled it back up the right amount of air was always there. I believe the first one lasted over 15 years and the second one lasted for another 5 or so til they tied in to city water.
