I have hydraulics on my A by removing the flat belt pulley and putting a v belt pulley in its place and then running a pump from the v belt pulley. That leaves the pto free. The hydraulics can then operate a cylinder to the mower lift so I don't have to lift the cutter bar by hand. Nice for mowing along the road when I want the bar several inches from the ground to keep it out of the rocks. I also use the hydraulics to operate a front mounted blade up and down and with a swivel to either side.
