On 12V you cannot get enough btu's of heat to make any difference unless almost sitting on the heater. 12V x 10.0 amp = only 120 watts. 12.5 amps makes 1500 watts with 120V power in your house or shop. On 12V you will need 125 amps to get 1500 watts. All those little 12V heaters are good for is draining the battery fast and maybe clearing a foggy windshield. A block heater have the engine warm at start-up and a hot water heater is the cheapest and fastest source of sufficient heat. Better for the engine, electrical starting/charging system and reduces fuel wasted by a cold engine by using a pre-heater.
