You need to be able to rotate the blade both forward and backwards. I turn it backwards for light snows and drag the back edge of the blade on the gravel drives so it doesn't cut into the gravel to bad.I also use it backwards to shove snow into piles back out of the way. If you are trying to clear a big area not real deep put it forwards at a slight angle it will roll it out of the way to the side.If real deep snow better off with a front blade so you are not trying to drive over it and can get traction.
