Here in the east where ranges tend to be shorter due to hedge rows and rolling terrain the .17HMR is a great woodchuck round. I used to use a .222 but I now prefer the .17 mainly because it makes much less noise. One shot with a.222 and you had to go somewhere else because you've scared everything back in it's hole. On full grown woodchucks the spire point bullets ( Hornady/Remington) don't exit and the recipient does not crawl away. The CCI hollow points exit and there are too many crawl aways.
