Case 380 LL won't stay running

Case 380 LL won't keep running. I have cleaned the glass fuel filter bowl and checked the canister filters, they seem clean. Fresh diesel has been added. Engine will run as long as starting fluid is sprayed into the intake pipe. Occasionaly it will run on its own without starting fluid for a block or two then acts like it runs out of diesel. What else should I look for? Thanks for any help. Terry
