priming the hydrostatic pump that operates the mo

I have a john deer 855 small four wheel drive utility tractor.It blew a seal on the out side front of the pump, which I replaced and I replaced the oil filter on the hydroststic transmission. I filled the transmission to the full mark on the dip stick of the transmission. I started the tractor and the 3 pt. lift worked fine. It took maybe 3to 5 minutes to get the hydralic steering to work, but it works good now. My problem is I can't get the forward and reverse pedels to move the tractor. Can any body help.
