They're Function keys. Different programs use them in different ways to automate sequences that would normally take several key presses to accomplish. For example most programs including Windows OS uses F1 to call up a help menu, F3 is normally used for repeat last sequence F12 maximizes/minimizes etc. I just found out by poking some of them that F6 causes me to loose all the typing I just did although I don't think that's a feature of YT Forum maybe just an erase function from XP. Go ahead and poke them to see what they do or look up thier meanings in your program documentation.
