I suggest trying it out with a log and make sure it doesnt leak too bad and that it really functions correctly, doesnt bind up, the cylinder rod isnt bend etc. Good Luck, I also burn wood in the winter here in Mich. My neighbor made a real nice tow behind splitter. I used it last year for about an hour and split 2 face cords fast, sure beats the old ax-sledge method....naaa I like getting the workout.
